More Flowers
The previous owners did a fantastic job at planting hundreds of perennials. It has been enjoyable watching what comes out of the ground.

Looking Toward the Master Bedroom
The final shot in this series. I hopped you enjoyed it. We couldn't have done it without the help of Peter Hemsley, Jim Hemsley (Dad) and Vince Jasinski. Thanks!
Another Toilet Shot
You can see the base boards that Peter helped me install. Also, the bathroom has been cleaned a bit, so is more presentable.
Completed Shower
Chiara chose a glass mosaic tile pattern for the eye-height band in the shower. We have a rain fixture, another must for Chiara (and, I must admit, myself).
New Toilet and Sink
The toilet we installed is shorter than its predecessor. We also installed a glass sink with a modern fixture. Chiara wanted to have all chrome fixtures and was aiming for a modern bathroom.
Bathroom Mirror
Dad installed a medicine chest mirror and this really cool light above it. You can also see the smaller window installed on the outside wall. This helps with the space issues, as now it is more proportional.
Nearly Finished
Chiara and I hired a tile specialist to do the shower, as I was worried about the quality of doing the work myself. He was quite reasonable and did a fantastic job.
Action Shot
The whole family is in the process of putting up dew rock. Pete put up the bathroom light above his head. He later knocked it down and it shattered . He found a way to replace it later.
Through the Closet
This view lets you see right into the master bedroom closet. Pete and Dad shortened the closet by a few inches to give the bathroom more of a rectangular feel.
No Floor
In order to get to most of the plumbing, the floor boards had to be torn up. You can see the stool pipe and the heating duct.
Picture of Plumbing
This is what the plumbing looks like behind the vanity/mirror. You can also see that the tile is broken up below. I had to use a crowbar to smash the title in order to break it loose.
Glass on Floor
I had to clean up each stage before the next one began. We used every container we could find to put trash into.
Preparing the Mirror
Vince had the great idea to tape the mirror before we dismantled it. We discovered that the mirror was glued to the wall, which meant that there would be no easy way to get it down.
Messy
I stored most of drywall, broken tile, and other trash in our garage, until Peter and I brought it down to the dump.
Handyman
This was the first time I've ever done something like this. I have to admit it was fun to tear off the walls.
Window
Chiara didn't really like the wall paper in here. I liked the fact that there was a mirror which made the space seem larger.
Random Shelf
I have no idea why this shelf was in the bathroom. It was pretty useless. It proved to be difficult to remove, too.
Toilet
This was a pretty large toilet. I think it was about 36 inches long. The whole room was 48 inches wide.
I Assure You, I Have Had Thoughts
The last time I posted to this blog was about a year ago. It has been hard to figure out what to post and even just being motivated to do so. I've been more active with my Cashtalk blog. I've also started another blog called "James Hemsley and the Family Band." I'll use that blog to document all of the happenings with me, Chiara and our soon to be born new baby.
Right now, I would like to document the remodel of our upstairs bathroom. We bought a house in October, and after my dad saw the house, he suggested we put a shower into the master bathroom. Between him, my brother, Chiara's dad, Vince, and myself, we began working on the remodel. I tried to take pictures of the process at different stages and will post them now. Enjoy!
